Overview:

As a Billing Specialist at Atlantic Eye, you’ll drive our financial workflow by managing accurate claims submissions, processing payments, and resolving denials to keep our operations running smoothly. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational and communication skills to handle sensitive patient information and interact with insurance companies. Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit insurance claims for services rendered.
- Post payments from insurance companies and patients.
- Reconcile payments and resolve discrepancies.
- Analyze the aging report to identify accounts with overdue balances, focusing on claims that require immediate attention based on age and priority.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and investigate reasons for denials.
- Generate and send out patient statements.
- Handle patient billing inquiries and resolve any issues.
- Set up and manage payment plans for patients as necessary.
- Utilize correct coding practices for procedures (CPT, ICD-10).
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and secure handling of patient records.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency with billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, billing procedures, and coding standards.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Certification in medical billing and coding (CPC, CCS-P) preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of medical billing experience, preferably in ophthalmology.
Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday 8:30AM-5:00PM, Flexibility is key, with occasional availability required on weekends and evenings.
